The first female senatorial candidate for Benue North East under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, has said that she is set to beat former Governor Gabriel Suswam (PDP) and incumbent senator of the zone, Barnabas Gemade (SDP), to landslide victory at the 2019 election. Adzape-Orubibi, who stated this yesterday at her Makurdi residence while briefing newsmen on her recent victory at the primary of the APC, said if she gets to the Senate, she would not be a sleeping senator but one that would be up and doing to bring succour for her people.
“At the 2019 election, I am not only going to win but win with a landslide. So, I don’t see the likes of Suswam or Gemade coming close to me.“I am not scared of the big names in politics because there is a wind of change and in that wind of change, new crop of politicians will come out to take the stage using the hand of God.
“Being a woman is not a curse but a blessing. This is because all humans came through a woman. To me, God has used me to break that jinx for women-folk so that tomorrow, other women will equally step in. The era of women being in the kitchen is over,” she maintained.
In this election, we must decide weather we will walk in the light of openness and accountability or in darkness of destructive self-interest. I am not interested in leading for leading sake, but am interested in leadership that is moral, that is right and that benefits the greater good of the greatest number of our people.
